About
Public data, made usable, by one person
Simba Systems is a network of 32 websites across 12 categories. Each one takes a slice of public data and turns it into something with a real interface.
Why it exists
Public data is everywhere and almost none of it is usable. A government agency publishes a dataset as a quarterly PDF. A regulator posts recall notices as an unindexed list. An industry body tracks a number that matters, but only as a press release once a year.
The data is public, in the sense that nobody is hiding it. It is not accessible, in the sense that a normal person cannot get an answer to a normal question without real work. Each site in the network closes that gap for one topic: a page that answers the question, with the source cited.
How it is built
Every site is built the same way, on the same stack, by one person. That is a deliberate choice. A single well-run pipeline that fetches, validates and publishes data reliably is worth more than ten sites that each half-work.
What every site commits to
- Public data only, nothing scraped from behind a paywall
- Every source attributed, with its licence
- Every chart has a text equivalent
- No dark patterns, no fake urgency, no invented numbers
The full list is on the sourcing principles page.
What this site is for
simbasystems.com is not a data site itself. It explains the network, lists every site in it, and is the front door for advertisers, data partners and guest writers.
